flip flop is an unflinching look at queer adolescent sexuality. following a year of after-school visits to a pool, best friends ‘sweet’ and ‘bitter’ navigate the invented, endorsed, unspoken ways sex is integrated into their lives. flip flop cycles through immersive and audio-based storytelling to explore a complicated cycle of abuse, using these forms to entangle and distance the audience from the worlds of the characters. set in and around a real-life pool, flip flop taps into our core memory pathways: wet feet slapping, the smell of chlorine, the echo of what you let yourself say, and the sensation of being twelve.

flip flop was the winner of the 2024 U of T Hart House Theatre Playwriting Competition, and the Second Runner Up of the 2023 Wildfire National Playwriting Competition.
