The Hungriest Woman in the World

"Delightfully discombobulating." "Cured my depression for 80 minutes."
"I didn't know it would be so weird!"

Just in time for the holiday season (and the holiday blues), The Hungriest Woman in the World by is a curious navigation of futility and meaning fuelled by a woman who inadvertently escapes from the confused loneliness of her real life into an audacious, seductive world of theatre and art. The production follows Aimee, who goes to see a play alone when her husband Rob refuses to join her. Her evening at the theatre tumbles into absurdity with dancing octopuses, overly intimate strangers and drunken mistakes. Both tender and hilarious, this play invites audiences to share— as Aimee says— a "secret in the theatre” that will sit with them long after the curtain drops.

Playwright Bramer comes into this production hot off the September release of her most recent book of poetry, Precious Energy. (“Shannon Bramer writes with a candor that is as clever as it is devastating […] drawing the domestic into utter sublimity.” -Robin Richardson). We are excited to be partnering with visual artist Jessica Hiemstra, who is designing a transformative, glimmering set full of surprises.
